Jose A. Mendez, age 75, of New Providence passed away on Thursday, July 10th at Lancaster General Hospital. He was married to Betty E. Snyder Mendez on March 2, 1974 until her passing on April 9, 2020. Born in Camuy, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Victor and Trinidad Acevedo Lopez Mendez. Jose was a lineman for PPL for over 40 years, and was very proud of his work. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends around a campfire, and being at the campground in Rock Hall MD. Surviving are 8 children: Wesley, husband of Stacey Mendez of New Providence, Tony, husband of Lori Mendez of New Providence, Melissa, wife of Matt Rivera of MA, Valerie, wife of Joe Saez of FL, Stacey, wife of Wayne Albright of Columbia, Jocelyn Mendez of TX, Jacoby Mendez of Oxford and  Junior, husband of Eva Santana of Leola, 13 grandchildren,  3 great grandchildren, 4 siblings: Victor, Carmen, Hector, and Nilsa. He is preceded in death by a brother Arnaldo and a grandchild Isaias Saez.

A funeral service will take place from Reynolds and Shivery Funeral Home, 144 E. State St. Quarryville PA, 17566 on Friday, July 18, 2025 at 11 a.m. with a greeting time from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Blake Deibler will be officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or Save The Bay foundation.
