David M. Hurst

David M. Hurst, age 68, of 401 East Main Street, New Holland, PA, passed away peacefully at Fairmount Homes, on Sunday October 27, 2024, where he had been a resident since August 2023.  Born on May 17, 1956, he was the son of the late Weaver F. Hurst and Anna. H. (Martin) Hurst. Dave was occupied with school teaching, landscaping. designing pole barns, and most recently selling puppies. He served in recovery and rebuilding with MDS after the Shadyside flood in 1989, and also after the destruction in Honduras by Hurricane Mitch in 1989. He was a member of Honey Brook Community Church.  David is survived by his wife of 46 years, Emma Ruth (Hostetter) Hurst. He is also survived by three children and seven grandchildren. John (Becky Bertin) Hurst, Abigail, Victoria, John, James and Katherine Hurst, Kilgore, Texas: David and Marylou (Kauffman) Hurst, Lebanon, Tennessee; Rachel and Timothy (Good), Mireya and Gabriel Good of East Earl, PA.  Surviving siblings: Esther May, wife of the late Samuel Shirk, St. Thomas; Irwin, Boca Raton, FL; Anna Mary, wife of Henry Blank, Chambersburg: Weaver M., husband of Sylvia (Esh) Hurst, Narvon;  Ellen, wife of Kenneth Kauffman, Bird-in-Hand; Allen, Manheim; Lydia Jane, wife of Amos Beiler, Leola; Irene, wife of Daniel Moyer, Paradise; Richard, Newmanstown.  David was preceded in death by brother Eugene M. Hurst, his father, Weaver F. Hurst, his mother Anna (Martin) Hurst, and a brother-in-law, Samuel Shirk.

A funeral service will take place at Honey Brook Community Church, 3940 Horseshoe Pike, Honey Brook, on Thursday, October 31st at 2 p.m. with a viewing time from 1 p.m. until the time of service.  There will also be a viewing time at the church on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.  Interment will be in the Bethel Christian Fellowship Cemetery.
