Wendy L.
Nichols
February 6, 1955 – February 8, 2025
Wendy L. (Church) Nichols
February 6, 1955 - February 8, 2025
Wendy L. (Church) Nichols, age 70, passed away February 8, 2025 from pancreatic cancer. Born in Lancaster, PA, she was the daughter of the late John R. Church, Sr. and Shirley J. (Shenk) Church-Musacchio.
Wendy was the wife of the late David F. Nichols (2022) for 32 years. She worked 30 years along side of her father in his business; at the former Fulton Food Center (Wakefield); and as a CNA (Lewistown).
Wendy had a kind heart and was a giving person. She tried to help anyone in need and lovingly cared for many during her life. She was always there for her parents and siblings, as well as extended family and friends. Baptized by Pastor Kurtis A. Swisher at Centre Union Church in Lewistown, PA, Wendy had attended Little Britain Presbyterian Church and Wakefield Bible Church in earlier years.
Her love of animals resulted in adopting many cats and dogs, especially those with health defects that others didn't want.
Wendy loved the mountains, living among Nature's wonders. She often shared pictures of wildlife - including a black bear and two cubs - as seen from her window. When asked how things were, her favorite response was: "It's another day in Paradise up here on the mountain!"
Wendy sometimes wrote poetry. We share her own words:
"Time never seems to matter until it's running out. We take too much for granted of which life's all about. We never stop to think of the true importance of living, until one day our time is shortened and the man upstairs stops giving. It's really strange how we waste time away and then when you find what you want it's too late. Yes, it's very true, time's a precious thing and when it's gone you can't get it back. So make the most of everyday before your time is taken away, 'cause once it's gone, it's gone for good!"
Wendy is survived by her sister: Trudy Sheetz, nephew Fred Gifford, step-son Eric Nichols (Stephanie), step-daughter Sheri Lorey (Peter); grandsons Adam and Aaron Lorey; and her beloved pets: Romeo, Puppy and Simba.
In addition to her husband, parents, and grandparents, Wendy was predeceased by her brother John R. Church, Jr., brothers-in-law: Joseph E. Gifford, Jr. and James O. Sheetz.
The family wishes to thank the following for the love, care, kindness and support shown to Wendy these last few months: Hershey Medical Center staff (1st So. Medical Intensive Unit), Dr. Sean Burke and staff at Seven Mt. Medical Center/Lewistown, Dr. Yee/Lewistown Radiology, the VNA/Centre Home Care/Crossings Hospice team, the Patorti family (care of her "Tids") and the Fisher family.
At Wendy's request: Services were private at the convenience of her immediate family.
