Violet L. Herr Mowrer, age 92 of Lancaster, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2023 at Mennonite Home.  She was the wife of the late Walter E. Herr who passed away on November 10, 1966 and the late Eugene B. Mowrer who passed away on May 11, 2011.  Born in Lampeter, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Rutt Stoner.  She graduated from West Lampeter School.  Violet was a longtime member of Calvary Monument Bible Church.  She worked as a waitress for many years at Good 'N Plenty Restaurant.  In her free time, she loved cooking, baking, canning, gardening, sewing and needle work.  Surviving are 6 daughters; Nancy J., wife of Dean Shenk of Lancaster, Donna J., wife of Richard Mast of Millersville, Brenda K., wife of Michael Coakley of Lancaster, Lisa M. Godra of Paradise, Elaine K., wife of Bobby McCrimmon of Palm Coast, FL, Linda J. Church of Conestoga, 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and a brother; John, husband of Martha Stoner of Leola.  She was preceded in death by 3 sisters.  The family would like to thank the Mennonite Home staff at Lititz Run for the exceptional care of their mom.

A memorial service will take place at Woodcrest Villa, 2001 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, on Saturday, October 28th at 2 p.m. Pastor Robert Reid will be officiating.  Interment will be private in the Strasburg Mennonite Cemetery prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Violet's honor to the Mennonite Home Benevolent Fund, 1520 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601.
