Vernon J. Fisher, age 87, born August 29, 1936, in Gap passed away at Garden Spot Village on Thursday, December 7, 2023.  He was the son of the late Stephen S. & Barbara Lavina Hooley Fisher.  Husband of Thelma J. Spotts Fisher.  They were married  on August 4, 1956 celebrating 67 years together.  He was a member of Bellevue Presbyterian Church of Gap, where in the past he served on the church session and building committee.  He graduated from the former Salisbury High School, class of 1953.  A veteran of the U.S. Navy Air Force from 1955-1957, helping to repair and test Blue Angels jet engines.   He was a Gap area businessman owning and operating the former West End Laundry,  Route 41 Diner, Gap Diner, Dutchtown & Country Inn and Fisher's Steak House.  In his retirement he developed Penningtonville Meadows of Atglen and Lime Quarry Homes of Gap.  He enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing, boating and kayaking.  Surviving besides his wife are 2 children: Michael V. husband of Deborah S. Law Fisher of Gap, Marjorie F. wife of Lewis Ingles of Gap, 5 grandchildren:  Brandon husband of Bethany Fisher, Aftan wife of A.J. Hoffer, Lauren wife of Wesley Landsem, Benjamin husband of Ana Ingles, Elizabeth Ingles and 9 great grandchildren, sister Helen wife of Richard Ours of Harrisonburg, VA.  Preceded in death by 11 siblings:  Verda Byler, Mabel Kennel, Grace Suter, Ruth Hershey, Harry, Ralph, Kenneth, Edwin, Alvin Fisher, Harold and Lester Fisher.

A memorial service will take place at the Bellevue Presbyterian Church, 810 Newport Avenue, Gap, PA, on Monday, December 18th at 11 a.m., with his grandson Pastor Brandon Fisher and Pastor Jim Farrell officiating.  The family will greet friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.  A private traditional burial will take place prior to the memorial service in the Bellevue Presbyterian Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Tel Hai Camp,31 Lasso Drive, Honey Brook, PA 19344 or to The Factory Ministries, P.O.
