Obituary

Verna May Groff was born on February 8, 1924 and passed away on January 2, 2014.She was the daughter of the late George and Florence Snyder of New Providence. She was the widow of Andrew Groff who passed away in May of 1971.

A lifelong resident of Conestoga Township, she had a career in hospitality, including Safe Harbor Village, Community and Osteopathic Hospitals and the Conestoga Wagon Restaurant.

Verna was a member of Green Hill United Methodist Church.She spent her retired life enjoying crocheting, public auctions, craft shows, and caring for her 22 cats.Later in life she was a resident of Oak Leaf Manor in Landisville and Hamilton Arms of Lancaster.

She is survived by siblings Katherine Rhineer, Miriam A. (Robert) Graeff of Willow Street, and Roy (Barbara) Snyder of New Providence, in addition to many nieces and nephews of Lancaster County.

Verna was preceded in death by six siblings, Dorothy, Junior, Ronald, Victor, Sue, and Emma

The family wishes to thank the caring staff at her retirement facilities for their heartfelt care.

The family would graciously request that anyone looking to make a donation to do so in honor of her love of "critters, great and small" to the Humane League of Lancaster.

Funeral services will be held at Reynolds Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA on Monday, January 6, 2014 at 11:00AM.Interment will follow in Green Hill United Methodist Cemetery.A viewing will be held from 10:00AM until the time of service.Contributions may be made in Verna's memory to the Humane League of Lancaster County, 2195 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA 17602.To send an online note of condolence, please visit our website at reynoldsfuneralhome.net.
