December 17, 1959 – March 5, 2026
Susan S. Martin, age 66, of Lancaster, PA, was called to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, March 5, 2026, following a many year battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Clifford W. Martin for over 43 years. She was the daughter of Kenneth A. Skiles and the late Anna G. Skiles. She is also survived by three daughters: Amy Balsbaugh (wife of Jason), Kimberly Musser (wife of Dustin) and Audrey Farris (wife of Ryan), 6 grandchildren: Elliott & Hudson Musser, Brinley & Brigham Balsbaugh, Cora & Thatcher Farris, two siblings: Jere Skiles (husband of Jan) of Narvon, Michelle Rodgers (wife of Steve) of Lititz. She was preceded in death by a sister Sara Kepner (late wife of Bill) of York.
Sue was a 1977 graduate of Pequea Valley High School. She graduated from Lancaster General with an RN degree. She was the Pennsylvania Nurse of Hope for the American Cancer Society and worked as a nurse and aide in Pequea Valley and Conestoga Valley Schools then working for over 22 years at Lancaster General Hospital, where she started her career in the Neuro Trauma Unit and spent the last 20 years as a Recruiter for the system. She was a great advocate for Allied Health personnel and developed the Day In The Life program for high school students to get to experience healthcare roles. She also enjoyed the opportunities to speak in schools and colleges and working with refugees to find careers.
Sue was an active member of Calvary Church and their choir and previously fulfilled many roles with choir, leading Bible Schools, musicals and education at Forest Hills Mennonite Church. She initiated the Leola Food Bank, which is now the CVCC. She also volunteered at Conestoga Valley and Warwick schools and served on the Ressler Mill Foundation Board for 10 years.
Sue enjoyed flower gardening, landscaping, music, bike riding and kayaking. Her greatest joy was found in Cliff, her family, grandchildren and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life service at Calvary Church, 1051 Landis Valley Road, Lancaster, PA 17601 on Monday, March 16th at 4 p.m., with a time to greet the family from 2 p.m. until time of service. Interment will be held by the family. If desired contributions may be made to Calvary Church or Hospice & Community Care, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.
