Obituary

Sean O'Brien of Leola, age 60, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday August 21, 2024. He was born October 28, 1963 to the late Gerald "Gerry" & Louise "Lou" Sartor O'Brien in Washington, DC. After Gerry's passing in 1966, Lou remarried the late James Harvey and the two raised their blended family of 7 children in Vienna, VA.

Sean was a Vienna Little League baseball all-star. He attended and played baseball for Marshall High School in Falls Church, VA. He was well-read and loved to learn, write poetry, appreciated music, sports, nature, and humor. He was also stubborn as a rock, witty as can be, grumpy when he wanted, with a take-me-or-leave-me mantra.

Some of his proudest work was in printing, trucking, landscaping and most recently serving as courier for the Bank of Bird in Hand headquartered in Bird in Hand, PA. Sean was a die-hard Orioles baseball fan. He was active on the local Over 60 Senior Modified Softball League and truly enjoyed all kinds of fishing. He was a master of grilling, sausage making and a lover of his Bernese Mountain dogs.

Sean is survived by his son, William "Will" Andrew O'Brien of Vienna, VA and the children of his late daughter Eileen O'Brien (Andy Baskett), Kara, Quinn, and Owen.  He will be missed by his "sibs"; Kathleen "Kathy" O'Brien Sells (Andy) of Folsom, CA, William "Bill" O'Brien (Kathy) of Lancaster,  Frank Harvey (Beth) of Columbia, SC, Carol Harvey Dapogny (Steve d.) of Bellingham, WA, Pamela "Pam" Harvey (Robert Krass) of Ashburn, VA, Andrew Harvey (Daphne) of Grove City, PA, as well as his beloved Aunt Elsie Fuller of Fairfax, VA, whom he affectionately referred to as "Grace," many nieces and nephews and their families.

Family and friends will remember his life at a graveside service on Friday, August 30, 2024 at 11:00am at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, MD.
