Scott Allen
Grocki
March 28, 1970 – February 5, 2023
Scott Allen Grocki (Alexander) passed away on February 5, 2023 while entertaining on a cruise ship in St Kitts. Scott was born on March 28,1970 to Kenneth Grocki and Diane Holstein Grocki in Baltimore, MD. His siblings Amy and Jamie came soon after and grew up in a house filled with shenanigans given to them by their fun and gregarious older brother. During his 52 years, Scott was a magician, author, inventor, lecturer, and one hell of an entertainer. Scott saw magic performed on tv for the first time at age six and the course of his life was set before him.
Scott graduated from McDaniel College with a degree in theater arts. His magnetic stage presence and comedic timing were on full display during the many musicals, plays, and magic shows in which he participated. It was during this time that he met his future wife, Jenny. They combined their talents and took the show on the road upon graduation, performing at colleges, corporate events, and private parties nationwide. In 1996, the pair moved to South Florida, and Scott became a resident magician at the illustrious Boca Raton Resort and Club.
In 1997, Scott and Jenny were offered a contract at Caesars Palace. They performed there for over seven years, racking up thousands of performances as headliners on the Las Vegas Strip. They were married in 1999 in a lush and unforgettable ceremony on the stage where they performed their show.
Upon the birth of their first son Jackson in 2004, the family moved back to their east coast roots, settling in Parkesburg, PA. Roxanne (2006) and Sawyer (2009) joined the brood, and their home became a fun environment of creativity and love, with Scott passing along his talents of creative thinking, ease of communication, and showmanship to his children. Although Scott spent a few months of the year performing on cruise ships, it was important to him that the family be grounded in community and surrounded by small-town family values.
Scott appeared on America's Got Talent, Penn & Teller's Fool Us, and Le Plus Grande Cabaret Du Monde in Paris and on major stages worldwide. His creativity, innovation, and generosity in his craft is highlighted by the magic products he developed and released to the magic market, his lectures, and the books that he wrote. He remained close with the many friends he met through his travels. Scott was the kind of guy that you knew always had your back, no matter what.
Scott is survived by his wife Jenny, his children, Jackson, Roxanne, and Sawyer, his parents, Kenneth and Diane Grocki of Westminster, MD, siblings Amy Hundertmark and husband Jake, Jamie Grocki and wife Mary, and nephews and nieces Nathan, Elizabeth, Laken, Aspen, and Gage. He will be lovingly remembered by his fans and friends, many of whom he considered family. In his honor, his family asks that you enjoy a big hot cup of coffee, laugh deep and long, be a generous friend, toast him with a glass of whiskey, stay up until sunrise working on something you enjoy, make allowance for each other's faults because of your love, always lighten the mood with a joke, keep a twinkle in your eye, and always look for the magic in your own life.
There will be a visitation with the family on March 10th from 6-8pm at Chantry Place in Christiana, PA. Scott's memorial service will be held at Alumni Hall at McDaniel College in Westminster, MD on March 26th at 2pm.
