Scott Alex Cherry, 74, of Millersville, PA, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.
Scott was born in Flint, MI to the late Alex and Pauline (Hoffner) Cherry, and was the husband of Nancy (West) Cherry with whom he celebrated 47 years of marriage.
He graduated from Kearsley High School in Flint, MI in 1969 before serving in the United States Army. He began his career as a Special Education Teacher in Durand, MI before completing his doctorate in Neuropsychology at Alliant University (formerly CSPP) in Fresno, CA. He retired as a Neuropsychologist in the Rehabilitation Department atMonument Health in Rapid City, SD after 29 years, where he specialized in FAA evaluations for pilots, brain trauma evaluations, pediatrics, and sleep disorders, among other things. He was also an Adjunct Professor for the Graduate Counseling Program for the SDSU extension in Rapid City for four years.
Along with his professional accomplishments, Scott studied and taught martial arts. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, tennis, pickleball, and traveling.
Besides his wife, Scott is survived by his son Nathanial and his wife Cara (Walker) Cherry of Lancaster, PA; two siblings: Cheryl (Cherry) Look and her husband Martin Look and Kent Cherry and his wife Mary (Rubscha) Cherry, both of Davison, MI; sisters- and brothers-in-law: Lydia (West) and Chris Spafford of Beulah, MI, Bill and Pat (Bryant) West of North Fort Myers, FL, Della (West) and Tom Teeples of Stanfield, NC, Sarah (West) and Joe Diem of Montrose, MI, and Laura (West) and Eric Hall of Flushing, MI, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, Scott was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-lawHoward and Verna (Wade) West and brother-in-law David West.
Funeral services will take place at Sharp Funeral Home in Fenton, MI on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at 12:30 p.m., with visitation prior to the service starting at 10 a.m. Interment will be in the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI onTuesday, June 9, 2026 at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society or the Wolf Sanctuary of PA.
