Obituary

Samuel William "Sam" Martin, age 76 of Holtwood, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026.

Sam was born on September 28, 1949 in New Providence, PA to the late Samuel N. Martin and A. Elizabeth "Betty" Martin (Gleisner).  Sam lived a life filled with music, sports, and deep love for his family.  He was a passionate fan of ice hockey and all Philadelphia sports teams.  A dedicated and longtime season ticket holder for the Hershey Bears, he could be found cheering on his teams and sharing those moments with others.  Music was another cornerstone of his life – he loved playing the bass guitar and had a special appreciate for classic rock, often listening to his favorite bands such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Beatles, and The Kinks, enjoying the rhythm and energy they brought him.

Above all, Sam cherished his family.  He is survived by his son Nathan A. Martin of Lancaster, PA, daughter Heather L. Martin of Georgetown, DE, daughter-in-law Victoria L. Martin (Brown), and his beloved grandchildren, Luciana Martin Rodriguez and Avery E. Martin.  He took great pride being a father and grandfather and his presence will be deeply missed by those who knew him.

Sam will be remembered for his passions, his dedication to the things he loved, and the lasting impact he made on his family.

Burial services will be held at New Providence Mennonite Church, 121 Main St, New Providence, PA 17560, on Thursday, April 9th at 11 am.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sam's memory to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, a cause he proudly supported.
