Sallie A. Spotts

Sallie A. Rissler Spotts, 80, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on September 8, 2026 at Brethren Village. She was the devoted wife of John B. Spotts. They were married on March 8, 1980, and enjoyed travelling together and entertaining until his death in January 2011. Born on April 2, 1946, in Gap, PA, Sallie was the daughter ofthe late George and Reba Doutrich Rissler. She attended Pequea Valley High School and received her Associate’s Degree from Goshen College. Sallie enjoyed many years of employment at both Bob Neff Tours and the Mennonite Home. After “retiring”, she had several part time jobs. She loved her most recent positions as a part-time Concierge at Brethren Village and as a Tour Guide at the Amish Farm and House. She was a member of the American Business Women Association for 30 years. Sallie was a member of Son Light Bible Church in Lancaster where she enjoyed singing in the church choir. One of her many spiritual gifts was hospitality and her home was always filled with family and friends. She never met a stranger as strangers were only friends she hadn’t met yet. She was faithful in visiting friends in the hospital and convalescent home settings. She loved to bake and cook as well as enjoyed entertaining and having people stay at her home. Knitting, cross-stitching, taking care of her flower garden, and feeding the birds (and squirrels!) were some of her favorite hobbies. She is survived by her sister, Janet (Thomas) Kline of Lititz, PA; brother G. Edward (Jean) Rissler of Harrisonburg, VA; nephews and niece; and her stepson Timothy (Kimberly) Spotts of Lititz. She has four grandchildren: Andrew (Kathleen) Spotts of Succasunna, NJ; Laura (Kevin) Todd of Mount Joy, PA; Alicia (Luke) Brandt of Lititz, PA; and Kristi (Dustin) Rohrer of Manheim, PA. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren with another on the way! She was very proud of her “great-grands”: Emilia Todd, Madeline Spotts, Lucas Spotts, Alaina Brandt, Brielle Brandt, Ruby June Rohrer, Ezekiel Brandt, and Daisy Rohrer.

Friends will be received on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 10:00 am at the Brethren Village Chapel, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am, immediately after the viewing, with Rev. Mike Nolt officiating. Sallie loved flowers and you are encouraged to wear bright flowery clothing to her memorial service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, Sallie asked that donations be made to the Brethren Village Good Samaritan Fund or Hospice & Community Center. Sallie loved working in her gardens; therefore, the family also encourages you to plant flowers to enjoy and remember her.
