Ruth Schmidt, age 79 of Exton, PA, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.  She was the wife of the late Wesley Schmidt.  She was born in Bergen County, NJ, daughter of the late Rocco & Mildred Gorla Santamaria.  She spent most of her working career as a realtor before becoming a mother and spending many years as a homemaker.  Later in life she returned to the workforce as a special needs aid in the classroom and also volunteering with hospice.  She enjoyed crafting, cooking, and most of all she enjoyed hosting gatherings with family and friends.  Surviving is a daughter, Briana wife of Michael Ewing of Cochranville,  3 grandchildren: Tyler, Brayden & Ryleigh Ewing, step daughter Jerri wife of Jeff Torres of Boonton, NJ, 3 siblings:  Joy Stull of Wharton, NJ, Marie wife of Jim Davis of Jackson, NJ, Linda wife of Joseph Izzo of Lakeland, FL.  She was preceded in death by a half brother Bob Santamaria and 2 step grandchildren: Ricky & Madison.

A memorial service will take place at Freedom Life Church, 447 Noble Road, Christiana, PA, on Friday, August 16th at 11 a.m., with a time to greet the family from 10 a.m. until time of service.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Lamancha Animal Rescue, P.O.
