Ruth S. Miller, 94, of Lancaster, PA passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at home.Born in Manor Township she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mae Sheirich Habecker. Ruth was married to the late John N. Miller who died in 2004.
Ruth was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed gardening and helping with the outside chores on the family farm. She had a love for horses and stabled and rode Arabians.Her love for travel took her to Europe, the Caribbean Islands, Mexico, U.S.A. and Hawaii on numerous occasions. She enjoyed attending public auctions and purchasing Early American items.
Ruth was a member of Rohrerstown Mennonite Church and the sewing circle group.She volunteered and donated her time to the Columbia Re-Uzit Shop and the former Rohrerstown Fire Company Woman's Auxiliary.
Surviving are two sons, J. Marlin Miller of Lancaster, Robert C. Miller at home; two grandchildren, J. Michael Miller married to Kristal Gagne of Mountville, J. Melissa Miller married to Richard Menard of Seoul, Korea; and two great grandchildren, Henry and Max Menard.
Ruth was preceded in death by two brothers, Elam and Charles Habecker; two sisters, Anna Mae (Habecker) Witmer, Elizabeth (Habecker) Steffy; and a daughter in law Bonita F. (Stoner) Miller.
A special thank you to the Visiting Angels staff who gave compassionate and loving care to Ruth for over five and half years.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Ruth's funeral at Rohrerstown Mennonite Church, 601 Rohrerstown Road, Lancaster, PA on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 11:00AM. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30AM until the time of service.Interment will be in Rohrerstown Mennonite Cemetery, Spring Valley and Rohrerstown Roads.
