Rosanne M. Lofgren, age 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Newport Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where she had been a resident for the past three years. Born on June 11, 1935, in Trenton, New Jersey, Rosanne, known to many as Anne, had been a resident of the area for more than 50 years, living in West Chester, Atglen, Christiana, Parkesburg, Paradise, and Lancaster. A devoted Catholic, she attended daily Mass faithfully until her health no longer allowed her to do so. Rosanne graduated from Immaculate Heart Academy in 1953 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education, with a minor in Spanish, from Immaculata College in 1960. She began her career as a fourth-grade teacher with the Octorara Area School District in the early 1960s. She later joined the American Red Cross postwar education program and was selected to teach at Lajes Air Base in the Azores, Portugal. After returning to the United States, Rosanne married, raised her family, and, in the mid-1970s, returned to school to earn her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) credential. She went on to dedicate the next 25 years of her career to caring for others as a licensed practical nurse at several nursing and rehabilitation facilities throughout the area. Following her retirement from nursing, Rosanne fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming an author. She wrote and published two books, *Silent Sky* and *Sheba 80*, inspired by an airplane crash that claimed the lives of several of her close friends from her time at Lajes Air Base in the Azores. Rosanne was preceded in death by her husband, Carl W. Lofgren; her brothers, George and Robert Mills; and her sister, Mary Alice Thomas. She is survived by her son, Erik Lofgren and his wife, Michelle, of Gap, Pennsylvania; two granddaughters, Leah Lofgren of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and Elizabeth Lofgren of Hoboken, New Jersey; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Consolation, 603 W. 2nd Ave, Parkesburg, PA 19365, on Friday, July 24th at 10:30am. There will be time to greet the family from 9:30-10:30am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Rosanne's honor to the Octorara Food Cupboard, 714 Main St., Parkesburg, PA 19365.
