Robert "Bob" Zercher, age 89 of Holtwood, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at home surrounded by his loved ones. He was married to Joyce Farmer Zercher on September 1, 1957 and celebrated 66 beautiful years of marriage. Born in Marticville, he was the son of the late Andrew and Helen Herr Zercher. Bob graduated from Penn Manor, class of 1953. He was a United States Army Veteran and served his country faithfully. Bob was a member of Bethesda Church and served as the financial secretary for many years and was known for handing out pink Canada lozenges every Sunday. Bob was passionate about the ministry of Rawlinsville Camp. He was a faithful attendee, participating in camp every year of his life except during his military service. He served as a Director of the Camp, the representative from Bethesda church, the financial secretary, Chairman of Building & Grounds committee, Vice President, and served as President of the Association for 13 years. Bob remained an honorary member of the Association until his death.
Bob worked at RCA, Schick, and retired as a station mechanic from PP&L in 1994, where he made many lifelong friends.
Bob enjoyed skiing, golfing, softball and most enjoyed spending every hunting and fishing season at the family hunting camp, The Coffee Drinkers, with his brothers and nephew. Bob loved his dogs, coffee, black licorice, Pepsi, Snickers bars, well done hot dogs and homemade ice cream but most of all he loved his family.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by 2 daughters: Daphne Zercher Hathaway and Karin Zercher, wife of Mike Paxson, both of Holtwood, 3 grandchildren: Lauren Hathaway, wife of Brett Bailey of Lancaster, Evan Hathaway of Philadelphia and Caroline, wife of Austin Griffith of Holtwood, and 2 great grandchildren: Eleanor and Avery. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Rawlinsville Camp on Saturday, August 17 at 10:30 am with a time to greet the family from 9:30 until the time of the service. A private interment will be held at Bethesda Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob's honor can be made to Rawlinsville Camp Meeting or the Bethesda Cemetery Association.
