Robert E. Weir

Robert E. Weir, age 92, of Garden Spot Village, formerly of Kinzers, PA, passed away at the Lancaster General Hospital on Wednesday, October 11, 2023.  He was the husband of the late Ethel Slaymaker Weir who passed away on November 12, 2017.  He was born in Gap, son of the late Clarence & Terressa Hershey Weir.  A member of the former Gap United Methodist Church and presently a member of Limeville Church of Gap for a combined over 50 years. He graduated from the former Salisbury High School class of 1949.  He worked as a truck driver, baker at Plain & Fancy and Dutch Haven Restaurants, J.D. Kauffman Machine Shop and provided transportation to the Amish community.  He was a member of the Penn Dutch #220 Camping Club.  He enjoyed camping and traveling all over the United States.  Surviving are 5 children:  Larry E. husband of Christine L. Kreider Weir of Bird In Hand, Loretta J. Weir of Gordonville, Nancy E. Henry of Lititz, Susan D. wife of Kenneth L. Moon, Jr. of Fredonia, PA, Michael Weir of New Providence.  9 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 12 step great grandchildren, 2 step great great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a step grandson Aaron Moon and 4 siblings:  Myrtle Wenger, Malvin, Harold, Clair Weir.

Funeral service will take place at the Limeville Church, 5783 Limeville Road, Gap, PA on Wednesday, October 18th at 11 a.m. with a viewing time from 10 a.m. until time of service.  Pastor Daniel L. Hall will be officiating.  There will also be a viewing at the Shivery Funeral Home, 3214 Lincoln Highway East, Paradise, on Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8 P.M.   Interment will be in the Bellevue Presbyterian Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Limeville Church.
