Robert Edwin Mackes, 90, of Jubilee Road, Peach Bottom, PA passed away at Conestoga View, Lancaster, PA on Friday, May 16, 2014.He and his wife, Theresa Marie Ertl Mackes were married 65 years on April 16th of this year.He was born in Allentown, PA a son of the late William Franklin and Anna Lewis Gay Mackes.
Robert retired from Gulf Oil Company after 32 years of service where he was employed as an instrument specialist.
He served his country in the US Navy during WWII, serving on both the USS Champlain and the USS Maddox.
He was a member of AARP. Robert enjoyed gardening,traveling, miniature golf, and had participated in the senior bowling league at Leisure Lanes, Lancaster.He also enjoyed home improvement projects and built his own home in Pine Acres, New Jersey.
Surviving beside his wife Theresa, are two sons, Robert J. Mackes of Camden, NJ, John W. (Hye Son) Mackes of Euless, TX; and a sister Joyce McGrath of Bear, DE.
