Robert E. Kendig

Robert E. Kendig, aged 87, of Quarryville, PA, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. Robert (Bob) was born February 27, 1939, in Christiana, to the late Robert J. and Alta M. (Eckert) Kendig. He was married for 65 years to Beverly (Lammey) Kendig.

Bob was a lifelong participant and avid fan of drag racing. He loved creating and was a highly-skilled fabricator, both with metal and wood. He brought home his skills as a millwright in DuPont’s experimental lab, always helping with projects. After 30 years at DuPont, he ran Kendig’s Transport, a rollback service, for over 10 years. In retirement, he loved spending time with family, fishing, and tinkering in his shop with his racecar and other projects. He also enjoyed watching Seinfeld, Pawnstars, Orange County Choppers, and Airplane Repo.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, Beverly, is his daughter, Pamela Hess and husband Steven of Quarryville; grandchildren, Ryan Hess and wife Adrienne of Quarryville, and Erica Lingle of Quarryville; and brothers, Gary Kendig and wife Selma of Quarryville, and Glenn Kendig and wife Cindy of Christiana.

The family will host a Celebration of Life in honor of Bob at Chantry Place, 15 N. Bridge Street, Christiana, PA, on Monday, June 29, 2026 from 4:30pm - 7:00pm. Guests are invited to dress casually. A private interment will be held at Middle Octorara Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Shivery Funeral Home, Inc., Christiana, PA.
