Richard D. Monk

Richard D. Monk, age 65 of Christiana, passed away at his home on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.  He was the companion of Sherrie Hilton Root for over 35 years.  He was born in Lancaster, son of Laura Taylor Monk Kilgus of Little Britain and the late Carl H. Monk.  He was of the Baptist faith.  In the past he had worked for Walter & Jacksons of Christiana and owned his own stump grinding business.  He was a hard worker, enjoyed helping others, yard work and woodworking.  He was known as the neighborhood handyman.  Also surviving is his daughter Paige E. Monk Lohr wife of Derek Lohr of Christiana, 3 stepsons: Kenny, Shawn & Shane Root, 3 siblings: Patty Monk of Quarryville, Jennifer "Rosie" Unruh of Galva, KS, Teresa Cadmus of Cochranville.  He was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Ronald and Robert Monk.
