"Dick" Hoover
June 2, 1938 – November 11, 2025
Richard E. "Dick" Hoover, age 87 of Christiana, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at his home. He was the loving husband of Patricia Shivery Hoover for 64 years before her passing on January 19, 2025. Dick was born in Christiana, he was the son of the late Jacob, Sr. & Mildred Posten Hoover. Dick was a member of Christiana United Methodist Church where he played on their softball team for many years. More recently he was attending Keystone Church. He worked as a butcher for over 50 years at Hershey's Market in Christiana and retired from Triple Fresh Market. An avid sportsman and lover of the outdoors, his hobby of hunting was his favorite. Dick was a man of hard work, kindness, determination and curiosity. When something caught Dick's attention he would read, study and learn about the subject until he mastered it. Dick loved filling his life with his passions of hunting, trapping, searching for Indian artifacts, raising various game birds and goats. He enjoyed talking, teaching and inspiring anyone who asked him about his passions and interests. Dick also enjoyed providing transportation to his neighbors in the Amish Community. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends and all who were fortunate enough to share in his life. Dick's greatest joy was his family, and his children were with him as he passed -this is a reflection of the love and devotion he gave to them every day. Surviving are 2 children George, husband of Leisa Robinson Hoover of Kinzers, Lori Lundy-Morrow, wife of Matthew Morrow of Quarryville, 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
