Reuben M. Miller, 89, died on Friday, October 17, 2014 at Homestead Village where he resided since 2008.Born in Manheim Township, he was the son of the late Reuben R. and Esta Rohrer Myer Miller.Mr. Miller was the husband of the late Arlene Stoner Miller and the late Sarah J. Miller.
Reuben's employment started in farming in Chester County from 1946 until 1958.He then went to work for the former Skee Craft Boat Company in Intercourse and the former Trojan Yacht Company in Lancaster. He then worked for Hershey Equipment Company for 27 years from which he retired.
He was a charter member of Mill Creek Bible Church where he served on the Board of Elders and taught adult Sunday school class.
His interests included family, church activities, deer hunting, golfing, traveling, and being a Phillies fan.
Surviving him are two daughters, Janet A. Nelson of Leola, Cheryl A. wife of John R. Hess of Lancaster; 4 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a brother, J. Harold husband of Martha Miller of Lancaster; three step daughters, Nancy wife of David Martin of Elizabethtown, Lisa wife of Timothy Forry of Mount Joy, Odessa wife of William Landis of Glen Rock; and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
Reuben was preceded in death by a daughter Lynn M. Miller and two brothers, Walter Miller and Lester Miller.
Funeral services will be held at Mill Creek Bible Church, 270 Strasburg Pike, Lancaster, PA on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 10:00AM with Rev J. Philip Good officiating.Interment will follow in Strasburg Mennonite Cemetery.A viewing will be held at the church on Monday from 9:00AM until the time of service.
