R. Lee Coates, age 90 of Kinzers, PA, passed away at Newport Meadows of Christiana on Tuesday, July 2, 2024.  He was the husband of Anna Mary "Babe" Seldomridge Coates with whom he would have celebrated 71 years of marriage in September.  He was born in Gap, son of the late Robert L. & Dorothy Shertz Coates.  He was a member of Bellevue Presbyterian Church of Gap.  He graduated from the former Salisbury High School class of 1951.  He retired from New Holland Machine, now CNH of New Holland.  He was a member of the Christiana Masonic Lodge.  Lee enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to his cabin in Milroy, PA.  Surviving besides his wife are 3 children:  Dennis Coates husband of Tina Trout of Kinzers, Dean Coates of Kinzers, Terry Hershey of Paradise, 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, sister Jane Henry of Quarryville.  He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Ryan A. Coates, 2 siblings Charles "Chuck" Coates and Sara "Sally" Files.

A private graveside service will take place in the Bellevue Presbyterian Cemetery.
