Paul W. Givler, Jr. of Tel Hai Retirement Community, Honey Brook PA (formally of Coatesville, PA where he spent most of his life) passed away on October 2nd, 2022 at the age of 87 of congestive heart failure. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Paul Winters and Dorothy Emma (Patterson) Givler. He was a graduate of Horace Scott High School, Class of 1953, Drexel University Evening with a BS in Engineering, Class of 1972 and obtained his Pennsylvania Professional Engineering License in 1974. He was a member of Olivet United Methodist Church and in addition to being a choir member for over 64 years, he held numerous positions in the administration of the church. He worked for Lukens Steel Co, Coatesville Area School District, LG Industries, Diversified Printing, and the Dupont Co. His entire work career involved some form of Design, Engineering, Maintenance, and Construction. He also held various positions within the government of the City of Coatesville; namely The Sewer Authority, The Government Study Commission, The Historical Commission, City Council, The City of Coatesville Authority, and The Coatesville Redevelopment Authority.
He was married to the late Margaret (Peg) Krauss Givler for 58 years. Together they had three sons, Gregory P. Givler, husband of Leah of Downingtown, Randall W. Givler of East Earl, and Kevin M. Givler, husband of Terry of Coatesville. In addition to his sons he is survived by his present wife Kathryn Wise Trotta, five Grandchildren – Amanda, wife of Timothy Kaiser, Ashley, wife of Trevor Fidler, Rachel, wife of Ryan Pitt, Kelsey Givler, Matthew Givler, and two great grandchildren, Jaxon and Olivia Kaiser.
A memorial service will be held at the Olivet United Methodist Church, 310 East Chestnut Street, Coatesville, on Saturday, October 15th at 11 a.m. with a casual greeting time from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Bunkoo Chung will be officiating. A private interment will take place in Fairview Cemetery in Coatesville.
