Patricia "Patty" Ann Shank, age 76 of Gap passed away unexpectedly in her husband's arms on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at their home. She was the loving wife of George W. Shank for 27 years. They had been together for 35 years. Born in Gap, PA she was the daughter of the late Morris W. and Sarah L. Piersol Coffroad. She is survived by her husband George and two stepdaughters: Melissa Bare, Coatesville and Michele Quigley (Tim) Lancaster along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also surviving are Patty's two sisters Shirley A. Miles and Betty J. Kauffman both of Kinzers, PA. Patty was preceded in death by a stepdaughter Melanie Kreiser (late wife of Doug) and a brother Walter Elwood "Woody" Coffroad. Patty was a loyal wife to her husband George. They enjoyed traveling by train across the United States together. Patty was an avid collector of porcelain dolls and Barbies. She enjoyed visiting antique stores and doll shows with George. Patty was very fond of both big and small cats and she also enjoyed watching horror shows that George would not watch with her. Patty attended Pequea Valley School District and worked as a seamstress for over 20 years at Meke's Sewing Factory in New Holland. She retired after 12 years working at Urban Outfitters in Gap. Patty was a kind, humble and selfless person. She would often put others' needs before her own and she was very protective of her sister Shirley, whom she had been caring for up until the end of her life. Patty was loved deeply and will be greatly missed. The burial will be private with the family at Sadsbury Friends Meeting House in Gap. A small farewell party will be held at Chantry Place - 15 North Bridge St, Christiana from 12 to 2pm on Friday May 1st. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of all the kitties she loved and cared for throughout the years: Black Horse Animal Hospital, 5081 Lincoln Hwy East, Kinzers, PA 17535 or Atglen Veterinary Hospital, 150 Pine Creek Dr., Christiana, PA 17509.
