Pamela Leah
Barrett
December 5, 1935 – May 10, 2025
Pamela Leah (Thompson) Barrett, of Cochranville, Pennsylvania, passed away at her home on May 10, 2025. Born on December 5, 1935, to Francis Thompson and Lillian (McFann). Pamela was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Gerald Thompson, Julia Thompson, Richard "Kenny" Thompson, Marie Keys, and John "Jack" Thompson; grandchild Timothy Barrett; and great- grandchild Jayden Gonzalez; as well as several nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
In June, Pamela would have been married to the love of her life, David C. Barrett, Sr., for 70 years. Together, they built a life filled with love, adventure, and family. Whether traveling to the mountains of Pennsylvania or as far as Branson, Missouri, and Texas, Pamela and David cherished their time together. In recent years, David became Pamela's devoted caregiver, a testament to their remarkable bond and an inspiration to all.
Pamela is survived by her four sons: David, Jr. of Johnstown; Gary (Elizabeth) of Christiana; Ernest (Elaine) of Parkesburg; and Curt of Cochranville. A dedicated mother, she supported her boys in their 4-H and FFA projects and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Known affectionately as "Piddle" by her seventeen grand-children and twenty-four great-grand-children, Pamela created countless cherished memories through sleepovers, swimming, trips to Hershey Park and Dutch Wonderland, petting zoos, walks, and her boundless generosity of time and love.
Pamela's life was enriched by her community and faith. A volunteer at her churches and community non-profits, she also found joy in driving Amish schoolteachers and their families--a role that resonated with her early hope of being a teacher. Her sense of humor, love of "Wheel of Fortune," and talent for knitting and sewing brought warmth to all who knew her.
Pamela's favorite joke to tell in recent years was: I've got five boyfriends, but don't worry, my husband knows about them: As soon as I wake up, Will Power helps me get out of bed. Then I go to see John to start the day. Then Charlie Horse comes along, and when he is here He takes a lot of my time and attention. When he leaves, Arthur Itis shows up and stays the rest of the day. He doesn't like to stay In one place very long, So he takes me from joint to joint. After such a busy day, I'm really tired and glad to go to bed with Ben Gay.
Pamela's legacy of humor, love, and devotion will forever inspire those who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to all.
