Obituary

Nancy Hall Gieniec, 87, of Lancaster PA, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and community leader, passed away peacefully at home on June 26,2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and service. She was the cherished wife of Dr. Casimir Gieniec and the devoted mother to her three surviving children: Michael (Vicki), Jeffrey (Melissa), and Jennifer (John Wade). She is also survived by her nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, who will miss her deeply. Nancy was preceded in death by her two sons, Stephen and Richard and granddaughter, Ellen.

Nancy was born in Picture Rocks, Pennsylvania, to the late Guy V. and Mary Catherine Hall. She was preceded in death by one sibling, David Hall. She graduated from Hughesville High School before pursuing higher education at Lycoming College, where she earned a B.A. in English Language. She was active in theater and the Lycoming choir. She furthered her studies with an M.A. in Religion from Lancaster Theological Seminary.

Nancy dedicated much of her life to education and community service. She taught High School English at Central Bucks, where she inspired countless students with her passion for literature and as advisor of the debate club. Her commitment to helping others was evident in her role as the director of Contact for the Lancaster County Council of Churches and as a member and Chairman of the National Board of Contact USA. She was also a successful entrepreneur, owning and operating Concentrix Shop and Gallery in Lancaster, PA.

A pioneer in community development, Nancy was one of the founding members of the Downtown Investment Board for the 300 Block of North Queen and played a crucial role in establishing the First Friday events. She also helped start the Strasburg Women's Club and the Strasburg Library, leaving a lasting impact on the community.

Nancy's dedication extended to her alma mater, Lycoming College, where she served on the alumni board and the board of trustees. Her compassionate nature led her to conduct workshops on grief and dying for the Office of Aging and Hospice, providing comfort and guidance to many.

Known for her captivating storytelling, Nancy's tales were rich with the depth of her life experiences. Her home was always open to friends and family, where she was known for her warm hospitality and delicious family meals. Her adventurous spirit, open-mindedness, and ability to listen and offer sage advice made her a cherished friend and confidant to many.

Nancy's life was a testament to generosity, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family and community. She will be remembered for her remarkable contributions, her wisdom, and her boundless love. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.

The family would like to thank Hospice & Community Care, the nurses, caregivers, social workers and volunteers.

A service to celebrate Nancy's life will be held at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepard, 750 Greenfield Road, Lancaster, PA on Monday, July 8, 2024 at 11:00AM with a visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of service.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Nancy's name to the following:
