Nancy Frey, 84, met Jesus face to face on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 and is once againin the loving arms of her husband Ross Frey Jr, who journeyed there first on October 22, 2008 after sharing 57 yrs. of marriage.Nancy was born in Lampeter, the third child of the late Elmer and Catharine (Mower) Witmer, and the mother of Jeff Frey, married to Sue, and Kathleen, married to Alan Railing, all of Willow Street. She is survived by five grandchildren:Jeremy, Andrew, and Ben Railing, and Ross and Clara Frey, whom she delighted spending time with, teaching them by example of a Christ filled life, and seven great grandchildren:Carly, Jenna, Misty, Luke, Emily, Nancy, and B. Wyatt Railing, and a sister, Gladys Neff. She was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Witmer.
Nancy, born December 22, 1929, grew up a child of the depression on the family farm, went to secretarial school, and took her first job at Lancaster Gas Co, resigning to become a fulltime mom and farm wife when she and her husband started Future View Farm south of Willow Street in 1952, working hard to turn it into a productive dairy farm.Nancy lived most of her childhood on that farm, and her entire married life. She later enjoyed working at West Willow Farmers' Association, dispensing cheer with a caring heart to its many customers, and eventually retired in 2006 from Pequea Twp. as a secretary. She was a faithful member of Pequea Brethren in Christ Church, serving as librarian for many years, teaching Sunday school, and being a friend and encourager to countless people who walked through Pequea's doors.
Her love for the Lord was always first, followed by love for all her family, and being a good steward of the land. She felt that land was not inherited from our parents but borrowed from our children. She never knew a stranger, befriending each and every person she met.She was a kind and gentle spirit.Even during her ten years of dealingwith Parkinson's, she never once complained, reinforcing the example she set for her family all her life, through good times and bad, of trusting in and living for the Lord.Nancy will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
