Miriam I. Baergen, age 102, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 15, 2024.   She was the wife of the late Peter B. Baergen, who passed away on May 19, 2010. They were married 69 years.

Miriam was born in Gap, daughter of the late E. Warren & Grace E. Thompson Rice.  In the past she was a member of the Colebrookdale Chapel and Exeter Bible Church.  She spent years involved with Bible Memory Association, memorizing hundreds of verses herself, and encouraging and assisting others to memorize as well.  She taught Sunday school and Bible studies, and enjoyed cooking and serving meals to her family, friends, and many missionary guests.

Miriam was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  Surviving her are 3 children:  Douglas husband of Martha Vaughn Baergen of Argentina, Lorraine wife of Jack Gerhart of Blandon and Joyce wife of Robert Confino of Douglassville; 9 grandchildren, Virginia (Tim), Daniel (Anita), Samuel (Claudia), Stephen (Sandi), Donna (Todd), Jim (Christal), Joel (Jocelyn), Adam and Daniel. Also 32 great grandchildren: Matthew, Elizabeth, Krysia, Anita, Peter, Katrina, Andrew, Heidi, Joshua, Jonathan, Samuel, Mateo, Josias, James, Maegan, Emily, Aaron, Jordan, (Justin), Juliana, (Jacob), Jared, Jason, James, Cassandra, Boaz, Alexandria, Luke, Gabriella, Alyssa, Isabella, Andrew, and 13 great-great grandchildren..  She was preceded in death by a brother Leslie T. Rice, a sister, E. Mildred Dochterman, and grandsons Jacob and Justin Focht.

Funeral service will take place from the Shivery Funeral Home, 111 Elizabeth Street, Christiana, PA, on Wednesday, March 20th at 11 a.m. with a viewing time from 10:30 a.m. until time of service.  Pastor Robert Stringfellow will officiate.  Interment will be in the Calvary Monument Cemetery.
