Mildred I. Murry (Millie), 97, of Lancaster passed away peacefully at her home on July 8, in the loving presence of her family.
Millie was the wife of the late Amos B. Murry who passed away in March of 1986. Born in Halfville, PA (Lancaster County), she was the daughter of the late Charles N. and Mary Hackman Shreiner, Sr.
She was a long-time member of Ruhl’s Church, Manheim. Millie enjoyed gardening, cooking, preserving fruits and vegetables and baking. She was known for her delicious deviled eggs and her awesome homemade shoe fly pies. She also enjoyed baking decorative and creative holiday sand tart cookies for family and friends.
In addition to being a devoted wife, mother and homemaker, she was a housekeeper for many friends and neighbors. She was also employed by L.H. Brubaker Appliances, along Strasburg Pike, as a member of the cleaning staff for many years.
She is survived by her children, Ronald of Lititz, Audrey of Lancaster, and Lori (Scott) Diffenderfer of Lititz; a grandson Michael (Alexis) Diffenderfer of Lititz; and a great granddaughter Hannah. Also surviving are her sister in laws by way of her late husband, Erma Feister and Edna Hackman.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and their spouses, Paul (Grace) Shreiner, Walter (Ruth) Shreiner and Charles (Vera) Shreiner, Jr. The family wishes to thank the staff of Lancaster General Hospital for their dedicated care for our mother during her recent stay.
A private graveside service was held in Ruhl’s Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Murray A. Miller.
