Michael L. Slaughter, 64, of Farmington Way, New Providence, died courageously at his residence, surrounded by his family and friends, on Sunday, November 23, 2014.He and his wife Patricia E. Simpson Slaughter celebrated 15 years of marriage. Michael was born on August 5, 1950 in Baltimore, MD, the son of the late Frederick and Frances Isabell Duffy Slaughter, Sr.
He was a graduate of Kenwood Senior High School in Baltimore. Following graduation he served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.
He was a self-employed as a programmer analyst.
Michael was a member of St. Christopher' Episcopal Church, Oxford.He also participated with the Fight Club Chapter at Gateway Community Church.
An avid pilot, he was a member of the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association.
His enjoyments were varied, but first and foremost were being a loving husband, and father.
He loved flying airplanes, along with reading (especially historical fiction), traveling, and being an avid Eagles Football fan. He was an aspiring actor, playing roles with the Allenberry Playhouse in Boiling Springs. Active in scouting he earned his Eagle Scout Award.
Surviving beside his wife Trisha are 6 children, Jack, Zachary, William, Sara, Nathan, Dustin; a sister Patricia (Don) Hager of Baltimore; a brother Frederick (Carol) Slaughter, Jr. of Pahrump, NV; a sister in law Sheila Slaughter of Lexington NC; nieces Jody Lamp and Donna Hager; and many other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother Edward Slaughter.
Memorial services will be held at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 116 Lancaster Pike, Oxford, PA on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 11:00AM with the Rev. Dr. Mary Ann Mertz officiating. A visitation will be held at the church from 10:00AM until the time of service.
