Merle Jean Heitmueller

Merle Jean Heitmueller, age 89 of Scott Road, New Providence, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2026 at her home. She was the wife of the late Ernest O. Heitmueller for 59 years before his passing on June 21, 2016. Born in Lancaster County, she was the only daughter of the late Raymond and Hattie Clark Stumpf. She was a member of Grace Community Church. Merle was a 1955 graduate of Solanco High School. She worked in the clerical department for several companies including Trojan Yacht and Sci-O Tech. After her retirement she worked part time for Willow Valley Retirement Community for 16 years. Merle loved rug hooking and was a longtime member of the Woolwrights Rug Hooking Guild. She also enjoyed making jewelry and going to sales. Surviving Merle is her longtime companion, Bob Hubbs of New Providence, several cousins, nieces and nephews. 

A funeral service will take place at Reynolds and Shivery Funeral Home, 144 East State Street, Quarryville, on Friday, June 5th at 11 a.m. with a viewing time from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in the Quarryville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Merle’s honor to Hospice and Community Care, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.
