Melvin L. Shaub, age 98, of Willow Street, PA, formerly of Peach Bottom, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at The Glen of Willow Valley.  He was the husband of the late Ethel Mae Gochenaur Shaub who passed away on July 31, 2010.  He was born in Holtwood, son of the late Arthur & Clara Cramer Shaub.  Melvin was a member of Mechanic Grove Church of the Brethren and in his earlier years was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church.  He was very active in the local community and frequently went on mission trips.  Melvin served in the U.S. Army in Italy in 1945 to 1946.  Upon his discharge he worked for Holtwood Hydroelectric Dam, RCA in Lancaster then a career with Philadelphia Electric at Conowingo Dam and Muddy Run Plant.  He enjoyed family parties, traveling, big band music and dancing.  Surviving are four children: Cynthia wife of Jerry Eckman of The Villages, Florida, Phyllis Lamont of Petersburg, PA, Brian husband of Charlene Wagner Shaub of Denver, PA, Gail wife of Ronald Hocutt of East Windsor, CT, eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.  Also surviving is a longtime companion Marilyn Patterson of Willow Street.   Melvin was preceded in death by three siblings:  Ruth, Harold & Ralph Shaub.

The funeral service will take place at The Mechanic Grove Church of the Brethren, 1392 Robert Fulton Highway, Quarryville, PA, Friday, May 30th at 11 a.m., with a time to greet the family from 10 a.m. until time of service.  Pastor Kevin Richardson will be officiating.  Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Water Street Mission of Lancaster.
