Mary Elizabeth King

Mary Elizabeth King, age 68, of Honey Brook passed at Reading Hospital on Thursday, April 10, 2025. She was the wife of Abner King for 35 years. Born in Gap, she was the daughter of the late Enos and Elizabeth Zook King. She was a member of Summitview Christian Fellowship, New Holland.

Mary was dedicated to serving her family with all her heart. Her children knew they were the apple of her eye. She thrived on interactions with people, whether with friends, family, her grandchildren, or anyone she met in public. For over ten years, her biweekly article showed up in the Budget, and every month or two she distributed the Summitview News. Those who walked closely with her saw her pressing into God for answers to everyday struggles. To her, gardening was therapy. She spent many hours tending plants and pulling weeds. It was near that happy place that she collapsed from an apparent heart attack and went to be with the Jesus she loves.

Besides her husband, she is survived by 7 children: Rachel, wife of Nik Naidu of Zionsville, Paul King of Honey Brook, Enos, husband of Lois of KS, Rosanna, wife of Chris McGrath of NC, Keturah King of Honey Brook, Kathryn, wife of Dirk Barkman of OH, and John King of Honey Brook, 9 grandchildren, 6 brothers: Jonas, husband of Sadie King of VA, Sam, husband of Dorothy King of Bowmansville, Mahlon, husband of Liz King of Gap, Emmanuel, husband of Katie King of Port Royal, Raymond, husband of Rachel King of NY and Mark, husband of Marian King of Morgantown. She is preceded in death by 2 brothers: Calvin and Benuel King.

There will be a viewing time on Sunday, April 13, from 2 to 4 P.M. and from 6 to 8 P.M at Summitview Christian Fellowship, 144 Summitville Road, New Holland. A funeral service will take place at Summitview Christian Fellowship on Monday, April 14, 2025 at 11 A.M.  Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.
