Mary Fenninger

Mary Fenninger, age 96, of New Providence, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2026, at WARE Presbyterian Home. Born in Philadelphia and raised in Aldan, PA. Mary was the loving daughter of the late William and Clara Caleo. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Theodore Kowalski and Benjamin Fenninger. Mary lived a long and meaningful life centered around her faith and her family. A devoted member of Mt. Vernon Christian Church, she found great joy in Bible study and teaching Sunday school in her younger years. She also loved cooking and baking for those she cared about, tending to her garden, spending time with animals (especially her cat Bibby), and gatherings with her family for many meals. She also enjoyed painting and writing poetry. Above all else, Mary treasured her family and the time she shared with them. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Debbie, wife of Robert Simpson of Nottingham, and Mary, wife of Greg Westnedge of New Providence; her stepson, Theodore, husband of Patricia Kowalski of St. Augustine, Florida; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her daughter, Virginia Rucci; her sister, Marguerite; and her brother, William. A funeral service celebrating Mary’s life will be held at Mt. Vernon Christian Church, 1 Lighthouse Drive, Kirkwood, on Friday, November 13, at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to greet the family at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. A private interment will follow the service at Northwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made in Mary’s honor to Mt. Vernon Christian Church.
