Obituary

Margaret Rhoads Kauffman, 80, formerly of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2025, following a lengthy journey with Alzheimer's disease.  Margaret, who went by the nickname Margy, celebrated 55 years of marriage to Kenneth M. Kauffman in June of 2023.  Born in Lititz, she was the daughter of the late Peter H. Rhoads and Katherine Hess Rhoads.  She worked as an administrative assistant for many years—first for Armstrong World Industries of Lancaster, and later for Graybill Realty and Kingsway Realty, both of Lancaster.  A talented writer, capable organizer, and consummate people person, Margy enjoyed interacting with both her coworkers and with clients. She retired following the birth of her second grandchild.  She and her husband loved to travel.  They traversed the eastern half of the United States over the course of five decades, camping in state parks, enjoying beaches, and visiting a wide variety of historical sites and museums.   A talented seamstress, Margy enjoyed sewing and needlework and was known for the beautifully crafted sets of Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls she made for friends, family, and a selection of charity auctions. She loved reading, enjoyed music, and was always ready to watch a historical drama or documentary.  She especially enjoyed the beautiful music and traditions associated with the Lititz Moravian Church and loved attending the Moravian Christmas service each year with her husband's family.  Although she grew up in a Mennonite congregation, as an adult, she attended both the Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren and Ruhl's United Methodist Church in Manheim.  A devoted parent, she volunteered her time with anything her daughter was involved in, serving as a volunteer at Bainbridge Elementary School and a parent helper in the Lancaster County 4-H Program.  Margy was especially close to her older sister, Pauline Miller.  The two of them resided together in memory care from 2021 until Pauline's passing in late 2024.

Surviving her in addition to her husband Kenneth are a daughter, Kirsten K. (Patrick T.) Dubbs of Jersey Shore, PA, and two grandchildren, Molly and Evan Dubbs.

Services are private.  Arrangements entrusted to Murray A. Miller.
