Mabel R. Jewell, 76, entered into rest at the home of her daughter, Diana in Pequea following a 20 year battle with Parkinson Disease on Thursday, September 21, 2017.She was the widow of Curtis W. Jewell who died on January 7, 2000. Born in Rockville, PA she was the daughter of the late Preston and Rosealba Souden DeHaven, Sr.
Mabel had been employed as a cook for various local restaurants, and then retired from a cleaning business which she operated with her husband.
She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, Quarryville.
Mabel loved to watch TV game shows especially "The Price is Right" and "Wheel of Fortune", but her greatest joy was spending time with her family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Surviving her are 3 children, James C. Jewell of New Providence, Mary (Steven) Swope of Lancaster, and Diana S. Jewell of Pequea; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and her mixed Jack Russel-Fox Terrier dog "Peanut".
She was preceded in death by a brother, Preston DeHaven, Jr. in 1999 and a great granddaughter Faith Maryanne Strawser in 2014.
A service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 3:00PM with a visitation from 2:00 until the time of service at Reynolds Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA.
