Obituary

Lois Elaine Rohrer (Demmy) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, in Lititz, Pennsylvania, at the age of 86.

Born to Raymond and Esther Demmy, Lois lived a life marked by deep faith, a joyful spirit, and devotion to family. In her younger years, she was crowned Peach Queen — an early reflection of the grace, style, and poise that followed her throughout her life.

In 1958, she married the love of her life, Donald Mumma Rohrer. Together they shared 64 years of marriage and raised three daughters, building a home rooted in love, faith, and hard work. Lois devoted many years to caring for her home and family, a role she cherished deeply. As a farmer's wife, she was resourceful and capable — known for her time-honored kitchen skills, practical wisdom, and the remarkable fact that she never met a tractor she couldn't drive.

During her working years, Lois was employed by Schick, Eastbrook Family Health Center, and later Ephrata Hospital, where she was known for her cheerful, welcoming nature. Outside of work, she found great joy in counted cross-stitch. Her meticulous handiwork earned numerous ribbons and awards at local competitions and county fairs, a testament to her patience, skill, and eye for beauty.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Lois loved Jesus and sought to live each day guided by His teachings. She was a devoted member of Calvary Church, where she worshiped faithfully for many years.

In addition to her beloved husband, Donald, Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Esther Demmy, and her brothers, Merle and Glenn Demmy.

She is survived by her three daughters: Terri Ridley (Donn), Gail Lanas (Ray), and Dawn Groff (Steve); her grandchildren, Courtney Phillips (Adam), Taylor Groff (Amy), Erin Rettew (Michael), Lauren Zimmerman (Grant), and Raymond Lanas (Emily); and her great-grandchildren, Harper Lyn Rettew and Clayton John Groff, all of whom were a source of immense joy and pride.

Lois will be remembered for her joyful spirit, old-fashioned charm, and deep love for her family. Her faith in Jesus guided her throughout her life, including her later years, when she was tenderly cared for by family and devoted caregivers. Her family is deeply grateful to the Nursing staff at Moravian Manor Communities in Lititz for their compassionate care in her final days, and to the Hospice team from Masonic Village, who, though their time with Lois was brief, cared for her with kindness and exceptional skill. Though time changed many things, the joy Lois shared and the love she gave remain lasting gifts to all who knew her.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, March 9, at 4:00 P.M. at Calvary Church Chapel, 1051 Landis Valley Road, Lancaster, PA.  An informal visitation will be held immediately following the service. Arrangements entrusted to Murray A. Miller.
