Lois R. Risk, age 77, formerly of Gordonville, passed away on October 3, 2025. She was born in Lancaster ( Oreville ) PA, daughter of the late Clarence & Marie Forrey Risser. Oreville is located where Park City is now. The family farm is Risser Grain in Holtwood PA where she lived until young adulthood. Lois enjoyed growing flowers and thrifting. She is survived by a daughter, Cathleen, wife of Marshall Long of Paradise; 5 grandchildren: Kyle husband of Nicolette Dyke Long of Twin Peaks CA, Kraig Long of Compton CA, Keith husband of Lauren Brown Long of Myerstown PA, Kristyn wife of Logan Hameloth of Mount Joy PA, Kaelyn Long of Mount Joy PA; 4 great grandsons: Oliver, Tucker, Weston, and Archer Long; as well as 3 siblings: Mark husband of Ann Risser of Willow Street PA, Janet wife of the late William (Bill) Eby of Mount Joy PA, and Helen wife of George Tudor of Lancaster PA. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Long, her parents and former husband Gary Risk.
Lois had a strong work ethic and kept her yard like Longwood Gardens with beautiful landscaping and flowers she labored over. She loved the mountains and the beach. She had a sense of adventure growing up riding horseback as well as dirt bikes and snowmobiles. She spent her career in customer service with her favorite job being Stauffers of Kissel Hill in Lititz at the customer service desk . She worked the family farm stands at Central Market, Roots and Green Dragon as a child followed by her aunt's restaurant Meadow Hills in Millersville. As a young mother and wife she lived in Anchorage Alaska while then husband Gary Risk served in the Army during Vietnam. She also lived in Arizona a few years during 1990's. The majority of her life was spent in Lancaster County PA. She loved to take a drive in the spring to see the new lambs, baby goats & foals as well as spring flowers.
Lois was very creative with flower arranging, crafts and decorating with an artistic eye. She competed in local fairs in flower arranging, winning first place and best of show frequently. She also had a gift basket business for several years. She served customers for many years at Kreider Egg Farm in Willow Street, Dutch Way Grocery, Modern Woman clothing, and delivering Lancaster Newspapers.
Lois was always a dedicated and hard working employee. She was a
very generous person. Her final days were spent at Hickory House Nursing Home where she enjoyed their many activities and some outings. A memorial service will take place at Shivery Funeral Home, 3214 Lincoln Hwy East, Paradise, PA on October 22 at (11 am). There will be a time to greet the family from (10:30 am) until time of service. Private interment will take place in Willow Street Mennonite Cemetery.
