Lois M. Patterson, age 86, passed to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 28, 2023.  She was the wife of  F. Richard "Dick" Patterson, with whom she celebrated 69 years of marriage on October 9th.  She was born in Lancaster on December 5, 1936, daughter of the late Clair H. & Mildred Coates Zimmerman.  She was raised in Gap, moving to Atglen in 1948.   She graduated from the former Scott High School class of 1954.  She married Dick in the fall of 1954 and in the fall of 1955 she became a full time mother and housewife.   She worked as a teller in the Christiana Post Office and then in 1990  along with her husband they owned and operated DILO, working in the trucking industry until retiring in 2001.  The family said with a smile that she was Dick's Escort, better known for driving his flag car for their trucking business.  Her CB handle was her childhood nickname "Skeeter".  Lois also in the past was a saleslady for Mary Kay and Dutchmaid Women's Apparel and was also a Den Mother with the Cub Scouts. She was a member of the Bellevue Presbyterian Church of Gap since a very young age.  She enjoyed traveling on the Queen Elizabeth II, cruising to Alaska and traveling with her grandchildren to Hawaii, Mexico and Florida.  She enjoyed creating her flowerbeds around her home.  In addition to her husband, who has been a devoted caregiver for the last 10 years, are 2 children:  Tom husband of Patti Brown Patterson of Jackson, WY, Lisa wife of Craig Thompson of Gap, 4 grandchildren:  Craig, Megan, Morgan and Tessa, 5 great grandchildren: Anna, Touren, Tillman, Tristan and Craig, sister Patricia Smith of Lancaster.  She was preceded in death by a son Richard husband of Greta Duncan Patterson of Delaware, 3 siblings: Mildred Welch, Robert and Leslie "Bud" Zimmerman.

Funeral service will take place from the Shivery Funeral Home, 111 Elizabeth Street, Christiana, PA, on Friday, November 3rd at 11 a.m., with a viewing time from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.  Pastors Clint Shondelmyer and Tukker Zimmerman will be officiating.  Interment will be in the Bellevue Presbyterian Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice & Community Care, P.O.
