Lois J. Martin, 95, passed away at Landis Homes of Lititz on Saturday, November 18, 2023.  She was born in Lancaster, daughter of the late (Bishop) Elmer G. & Ada Kreider Martin. She was a member of Neffsville Mennonite Church.  She graduated from Eastern Mennonite College and then the University of Pennsylvania, with the high honor of the Florence Nightingale Award.  She spent a year as the school nurse at Eastern Mennonite College, Harrisonburg, VA. She worked at various hospitals, including Kansas City, MO and Phoenix, AZ. She spent many years as a Private Duty nurse and ended her 50-year nursing career as an RN with the last 17 years at Hospice of Lancaster County.  She was part of the Martin family that owned the former Martin Meats of Bridgeport, PA.  She loved flying and flew for 10 years as a private pilot.  She traveled to many countries including Israel, Europe, the Netherlands and Jamaica. She spent time in Haiti and the Dominican Republic on Medical Group Mission tours.  She was a favorite aunt to her nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by 5 siblings: Gertrude (Elam) Hollinger, Anna Elizabeth (John) Slaymaker, Miriam (James) Yoder, Eunice (Lloyd) Keller and Elmer G. (Elva) Martin, Jr.

A funeral service will take place at the West Bethany Chapel at Landis Homes, 1001 East Oregon Road, Lititz, on Wednesday, November 22nd at 11 a.m. with a viewing time from 10 a.m. until the time of service.  Interment will take place in the Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery.
