Lloyd Henry Welk, 61, of Loop Road, Quarryville, went to be with his heavenly Father following a tree cutting accident in Eden Township on Saturday, February 1, 2014.
He and his wife Barbara Price Welk celebrated 40 years of marriage.Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Dorothy Henry Welk of Quarryville and the late Ira D. Welk.
Lloyd was a member of Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and sang with the choir.Active in his community, he was a life member of Quarryville Fire Company 57, joining the company in January 1977 and served as its president from 1983-1989. He also served as a former assistant chief for Eden Fire Company. He served on the Solanco Fair committee for 6 years as 1st and 2nd vice president and then President, along with being the chairman of the dairy committee. He was on the Lancaster County Republican committee, and Lancaster Farm and Home Center.
Lloyd was a lifelong farmer and a feed salesman for Powl's Feed Service.
Lloyd's love was his many friends and family, Barb and the children, and especially his grandson Landon and was looking forward to the birth of his first granddaughter, Leona. He enjoyed going to the cabin in Richfield, PA, traveling, Penn State, the Phillies, and the 76er's.
Surviving beside his wife and mother are two children, Andrew Lloyd married to Rachel Kauffman Welk of Lancaster, Lara Elizabeth Welk of Millersville; a grandson Landon Andrew Welk; a twin brother LeRoy Henry married to Debra Ashby Welk of Quarryville; and a sister Donna R. wife of Steven Latham of Quarryville. He was preceded in death by a son David N. Welk.
Funeral Services will be held at Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church, 1068 Chestnut Level Road, Quarryville, PA on Friday, February 7, 2014 at 11:00AM with Rev. Dr. Michael R. Wilson officiating.
