Obituary

Linda Lee Stoots, devoted wife, mother, Gram, and sister, passed away September 19, 2025 in Lititz, PA, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in 1938 in Kennard, Indiana, Linda was the eldest daughter of the late Homer Wilbur Hummel and Lois (Kendall) Hummel. She spent her youth in Henry County before later making her home in Strasburg, PA, where she built a life centered on family, faith, and service.

Linda dedicated her entire career to the banking profession, where her kindness, professionalism, and integrity earned the respect of both colleagues and customers. She retired from the Bank of Lancaster County in Strasburg, PA.

She found great joy in her personal passions. An excellent cook and gracious hostess, Linda especially loved preparing holiday meals for her family and friends. She also enjoyed freezing sweet corn and homemade applesauce every summer, watching her grandson Zach play baseball, and playing weekly card games with her groups of friends. Linda also enjoyed golfing and playing tennis. A woman of strong faith, she was a longtime member of Strasburg Presbyterian Church in Strasburg, Pennsylvania, where she was active in church life and fellowship.

Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl D. Stoots; their son, Jay D. Stoots; their daughter, Cynthia Stoots Shank; and her sister, Janet S. Vaccaro. Her family finds peace in knowing they are united as a family once again.

She is survived by her son-in-law, John P. Shank, husband of Cynthia; and two grandchildren who were the light of her life, Zachary J. Shank and Emily M. Shank, and her grand-dog Wilbur. She will also be remembered fondly by extended family, dear friends, and all whose lives she touched.

A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Strasburg, 101 South Decatur Street, Strasburg, PA on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 7:00PM with Rev. Robert K. Bronkema officiating. An informal visitation will follow immediately after the service.  Inurment will be held privately in Strasburg Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Masonic Village Hospice, 98 Masonic Drive, Suite 101 in Elizabethtown, PA, 17022.
