"Buddy" Groff
January 7, 1939 – January 27, 2025
Lee C. "Buddy" Groff, age 86 of Quarryville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 27, 2025 at his home. He was the loving husband of Nancy Nichols Clure Groff. Born in Liberty Square, he was the son of the late Thaddeus Charles and Anna Belle Trimble Groff. He attended Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church. He graduated from Solanco High School Class of 1957 and then joined the United States Army serving in Germany for 2 years. Buddy started working for RCA in 1965 and also worked for Ross Sunoco Service Station in Quarryville. In his free time, he loved golfing and watching the Philadelphia Phillies, Eagles and Flyers. Surviving in addition to his wife are 2 children; Tammy Ann Groff and Charles Lee Groff, both at home, and many nieces and nephews, all of Lancaster County. He was preceded in death by sisters Rose Marie Groff and Joy Elizabeth Groff who perished in the 1958 KLM Flight 607E airplane crash off the coast of Ireland, sisters Jane Helen Groff, Ruth Patricia Groff Frackman and a brother, Jay Edward Groff.
A funeral service will take place at Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church, 1068 Chestnut Level Road, Quarryville, on Sunday, February 2nd at 3 p.m. with a viewing time from 2 p.m. until the time of service. Rev. John Hartman will be officiating. Interment will be in the Drumore Friends Burial Ground. Contributions may be made in Buddy's honor to Friendship Community, 1149 E. Oregon Road, Lititz, PA 17543 or to the Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 1068 Chestnut Level Road, Quarryville, PA 17566.
