Larry D. Book

Larry D. Book, 77, of Strasburg, died unexpectedly at his residence on Monday, April 14, 2025.  Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Ross E. and Mary E. Sample Book.

A graduate from Lampeter Strasburg Class of '66, his early employment was with a family business, Ross E. Book and Son, Florist in Strasburg. He then had been employed for 60 years with the former Yuninger's Garage which later became Myers' Service Center as a PA Certified Inspector & Master Mechanic. He was also a self-employed truck driver highly skilled with his "double stick" B-61 Mack which he cherished.

Larry enjoyed NASCAR, hunting, and horses which he frequently showed and participated in barrel racing.  He was an avid baseball player, playing third base all through the midget and high school programs.

Larry was a member of the Strasburg Sportsman's Association and a former member of the Strasburg Lodge I.O.O.F.

A quiet and thoughtful man, Larry was very protective of his family and like his father, respected by friends, family and neighbors.

He is survived by two children, Bradley D. Book and Shannon K. Book; 5 grandchildren, Mary Book, Emily D. Book, Mason Wallace, Ross J. Book, Piper Wallace; a brother Charles R. Book; and a sister Carolyn L. wife of Richard J. Williams, Sr.

He was preceded in death by a sister Elizabeth B. Shissler.

A celebration of his life will be held at Reynolds and Shivery Funeral Home, 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 11:00AM. A visitation will be held from 10:00AM until the time of service. Interment will be private in Strasburg Mennonite Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Murray A. Miller.
