Obituary

Ladina Joy (Stoltzfus) Rishel, 52, of Intercourse, PA, passed away on April 26, 2024.  Well done, good and faithful servant.  Ladina's was a life well-lived, a marriage well-served, a home well-managed.  She leaves a happy home.  She was a sweet and gentle soul, lovely in form and beautiful inside and out.  At a very young age, when Jesus stood at the door and knocked, Ladina opened and became a disciple of Christ.  She denied herself, took up her cross, and followed Jesus.  She did the things God asked her to do.  She honored her father and her mother.  She left her home and became the faithful wife of Darrell Rishel, and for 31 wonderful years was a charming and beautiful helper to him.  She and Darrell had four children, training them up in the fear and admonition of the Lord.  As a busy home-schooling mom, her children were cherished.  She exuded the joy of the Lord and radiated the fruits of the Spirit.  She was a good listener, was industrious, playful, adventurous, encouraging, supportive, caring, compassionate, kind, innocent, and full of grace.  Finally, when it was time for God to call Ladina home, and cancer silently ravaged her health, she persevered in her faith with patient endurance.  She was and is a good soldier in the kingdom of God.  Ladina was the daughter of David and Rosanna Stoltzfus.  She grew up in the Sandy Hill Mennonite Church, attended and was a member of the Elizabethtown Mennonite Church, and for the past 15 years attended and was a member of Calvary Monument Bible Church in Paradise, PA.  She was involved in youth ministry as a Bible quizzing coach for 25 years.  She excelled at serving, loving, inspiring, mentoring, coaching, (and feeding!) quizzers.  Ladina loved going to the beach, running, boating, reading, baking, taking walks with friends, and biking.  She and her family rode bicycles to Florida (twice), and she enjoyed attending her children's sporting events. She was a skillful waterskier.  Ladina is survived by her husband, parents, and her four children; Emily, David and wife Josie, Jenna, and Ellie, all of Lancaster County.  Also her brother Doug Stoltzfus and sister-in-law Rochelle.  She was preceded in death by her parents-in-law Buster and Eleanor Rishel.

Friends will be received Tuesday, April 30th from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM, and Wednesday, May 1st at 10:00-11:00 AM with funeral service at 11:00am, all at Calvary Monument Bible Church, 1660 Mine Road, Paradise, PA.  Interment in the adjacent cemetery immediately following service.  Donations in Ladina's memory may be made to: Lemuel Ministries, 1849 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601 or online at lemuelministries.org/donate; The Damien Foundation, 5117 Old Philadelphia Pike, Kinzers, PA 17535 or online at thedamienfoundation.org; or the Michael P.
