Kyle David Esh

Kyle David Esh, age 24, son of Ivan and Sue Fisher Esh of Gordonville, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus at the Hershey Medical Center on Wednesday, November 2, 2022.

Kyle was born a fighter, a warrior really. He was diagnosed with Trisomy 22 and Tetralogy of Fallot at birth. Though Drs sent Kyle home thinking he wouldn't make it, he defied the odds, and surprised us all. He survived two open heart surgeries in the first two years of his life. He battled countless other medical obstacles, and overcame so many times.

Kyle was so brave, and tho he never walked or talked he touched many lives throughout his 24 years. His family loved and cared for him so well and gave him the best life they could. Some of Kyles favorite things were- time spent with siblings, interaction with cousins, time spent in his back yard pool, long car rides including yearly trips to Sarasota, Florida and regular trips to Tennessee to see his sister, riding "shot-gun" with his dad in the truck, sitting for hrs in the basement watching sports games with his dad, and most recently riding in the bucket of the big yellow bike given by friends.

Because car rides were a huge part of is life, his mom became a flower delivery lady for Pinewood & Posies. Kyle and Sue delivered countless arraignments all over Lancaster Co. Another "drive" the two of them would make was a loop in Lancaster City to pray for the cops that serve our city. Latte Luv drive-thru coffee shop in Paradise was another place they frequented, where the employees there loved on them. The coffee shop stop wasn't really Kyle's idea- he preferred to keep moving when in the car.

In Kyle's travels, he and his family took a "Make-A-Wish" cruise to the Bahamas, and a Cruise with a Cause to Jamaica. Traveling with Kyle was no easy feat, but all the memories made were worth the challenge.

In the midst of Kyle's life circumstances, the joy he showed when he was happy was a highlight for everyone. His smiles and giggles were like sunshine on a cloudy day, and those who had the privilege to encounter these random moments were deeply impacted.

Kyle's mom always said "it takes a village' to raise a special needs child, and there were many who came alongside the family and served him/them so well. Words cannot express the family's gratitude for ALL of you- from the ones who prayed faithfully, to the Drs and nurses, therapists, and caretakers, family and friends- THANK YOU for serving and loving so well!! The family also wishes to specifically thank Hershey Medial Center, Eden Park Pediatrics, the Clinic for Special Children, the Community Care Center, the teachers and bus drivers in the PV and Garden Spot school districts, SNAP at Petra Church, and The Sunflower Program. All of you went beyond your professional duty to love and care for Kyle. You were personal and treated him and his family like friends.

He was well loved by family and friends. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister Kendra L. married to Drew Drake of Ashland City, TN, a brother Virgil M. of New Holland and a nephew Jack Drake. Maternal grandparents are Linda Fisher of Lancaster and the late Henry K. Fisher. Paternal grandparents are Rebecca Esh of Gordonville and the late Samuel Esh. Kyle is also survived by aunts, uncles and lots of cousins.

To think of Kyle's earthly life is to picture him with an arm float on his arm, a vibrator in his hand, a neck pillow around his neck, a weighted blanket near-by and a bottle of water setting next to him. To think of Kyle in Heaven is a Kyle we have yet to meet- walking, talking, and worshipping the King of Kings. And though our lives with Kyle were fuller because of friendships we made on the journey, we anticipate the moment we embrace in Heaven and hear his voice for the first time.

Funeral arrangements are as follows, viewing on Saturday, November 5th at Petra Church, 565 Airport Road, New Holland, form 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m., followed by interment in the Petra Memorial Park at approximately 4 p.m. All are welcome to attend a celebration of life service at Petra Church on Sunday, November 6th at 4 p.m.
