Kenneth L. "Ken" Stottlemyer Jr., age 66, of Strasburg, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Hershey Medical Center. He was the loving husband of Joy Groff Stottlemyer, with whom hewould have shared 37 years of marriage in August. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Kenneth L. Stottlemyer and Louise Stottlemyer Varble, wife of Charles L. Varble Jr., of Ronks. Ken retired from U.S. Boiler Co in January 2025.
Ken enjoyed gardening and taking a break from yard work to rest on his patio by the fish pond. He also enjoyed traveling to Bayshore on weekends for boating, fishing, clamming, crabbing and simply being outdoors. The beach was his happy place. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He and his son, Kevin, shared a love of making homemade ice cream. Ken's favorite flavor was peach.
Ken was initiated into Strasburg Lodge #361 of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows on February 28, 2013. He attained the rank of Past Grand in 2016. Ken was a long time Trustee Encampment #217, serving as Chief Patriarch at the time of his passing.
Surviving, besides his wife, are three children: Katie L. Stottlemyer of Leola, Kenneth L. Stottlemyer III of York, and Kevin M. Stottlemyer of Strasburg; two grandchildren: Jesse J. Lonon V and Jadelyn J. Lonon, both of Leola. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael E. Stottlemyer.
A funeral service will be held at Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church, 1068 Chestnut Level Rd., Quarryville, PA 17566, on Saturday, July 11, at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Rev. John Hartman will officiate. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
