Obituary

Keith D. Maurer, age 59, of Strasburg passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2022 from mantel cell lymphoma. He was born in Lancaster, son of Sanda Sue Weller of Macungie and the late Clifford E. Maurer. He was a carpenter by trade. Working for Wohlsen construction company after completing a 4 year apprenticeship. He loved helping people. Wether it was a family member, friend or complete stranger. He enjoyed having long conversations on many  diverse subject matters.  He had a great mind and it was amazing  how he could recall so  many facts and details. Before his work accident that left him disabled with Regional Pain Syndrome he loved to rock climb,go to his friends hunting cabin, attend car races and work on his classic car. Playing intramural volleyball, riding mini bikes and motorcycles. Some of his favorite memories were hanging out with his immediate family and cousins at O.C.N.J. In high school he was the checker club champion. In later years he became an avid scrabble player. He helped set up firework displays in his community for the 4th of July and was a volunteer with the local hot air balloon festival. Helping to launch and then track them. He was also a projectionist at his local movie theatre and also worked in his cousins folk art pottery shop. Keith was the family historian on his mothers maternal line of the family tree.  He was a major history buff most notably anything relating to WW2.  He loved studying the bible with his bible study group. He always took time to listen to  people who were going through tough times.Your life was anything but easy. But everyday you chose to start again with gods help when there were so many opportunities to give up you held on. We are so proud of you. You will be dearly missed by all those whose spirits you touched. Surviving besides his mother are 4 siblings: Lori wife of Richard Bechtel of Macungie, Katrina wife of Mark Kistler of Lancaster, Pam Landis of Paradise and Larry husband of Kelly Landis of Lancaster. 6 nephews: Corey Bechtel, Cameron  Kistler, Brady Kistler, Justin Wiggins, Charles Wiggins, and Austin Wiggins, and a step-mother Margie Maurer of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by a step-father, Earl Weller. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
