Kathleen J. Bucher

Kathleen J. “Kathy” Bucher, age 85, of Willow Valley in Willow Street, died Sunday, October 18, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Robert P. Bucher. Kathy is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Ann (Beth) Bucher of Lancaster; a brother David A. Weaver husband of Alice of Quarryville; a sister Linda J. Simpson of Lancaster; a close friend Al Smoker; and Willow, her cat. Kathy was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip M. Weaver.

Kathy was born in East Petersburg, the daughter of the late E. Mark and Thelma (Shank) Weaver. She graduated from Manchester University in 1963 with a degree in art education and taught elementary art for three years. She was involved in and taught various art projects over the years, which included making her own Christmas cards every year since childhood.

A special bookcase was needed to house her diaries kept for over 50 years, as well as diaries of some family members.

Kathy was a member of Willow Street United Church of Christ and a long-time member of the Strasburg Area Woman’s Club, the Lancaster Red Rose Chapter of the Embroiderer’s Guild, sometimes teaching classes and designing stitchery projects. The End!

A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held at Willow Street United Church of Christ, 2723 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA on Friday, October 30, 2026 at 1:00PM with Rev. Liza Garcia officiating. A visitation will be held from 11:30AM until the time of service. Inurnment will be private in Mechanic Grove Brethren Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Murray A.Miller.
